Story

When everyone in the world starts turning into human-eating monsters in just a night, loner Hyung Soo finds himself trapped in his new apartment building. Now he has to work with the other tenants to survive these new conditions, when he starts having the symptoms of the disease.

Korean Drama Sweet HomeĀ has enough gore to make it horror, but there are plenty of human touches to bring up the emotions.

The story doesn’t give away that it’s a manhwa adaption. Rather, it has a more slice of life and family drama feels, even though the blood baths are plenty.

The monsters, moreover, were loads and different, even though the CGI were not as good as the rest of the settings. The transformation, though, was nicely done and had an intense, dramatic factor to it.

As for the actual story, it unfolds slowly, as the viewer is introduced step by step to the characters and gets to know them and form a connection with them.

Their relationships were another factor that brought enough emotional drama, as the survivors create a small community and work together against their deadly circumstances. However, the drama doesn’t shy away from eliminating beloved ones in order to move the action forward.

The main mystery is also intriguing and is presented piece by piece, although it doesn’t have a conclusion in this season.

Cinematography

The drama has beautifully dark settings, wonderful and clever camerawork, intense soundtrack but horrible CGI.

Overall

My overall review of the Korean Drama Sweet Home is 8 out of 10. The drama is bloody, gory but also sweet and sad.
