Story
Ga On is a rookie judge hired to be on the live court of the popular to the public Judge Yo Han, a man who is ruthless when it comes to his punishments. Ga On knows that Yo Han is hiding something and that he isn’t the one he appears to be, but, as he gets closer to him in order to investigate him, he starts to learn that the corruption of the system is deeper than he thought.
Korean Drama The Devil Judge is a law drama that centers around strong characters, Judge Yo Han and his eccentric personality, Judge Ga On and his strong sense of justice, and Sun Ah, a mysterious, ambitious woman who is thirsty for power.
The drama offers some interesting crime cases, which are the main source of interest at times. The live court, the dramatic way everything is presented, and the punishments that are both satisfying and suspenseful, are the key elements to the rise of entertainment.
Similarly, the backstory of the main characters and the small dysfunctional family that they create, are the pool of the emotional aspect of the drama. It provided a lot of sweet, cozy moments and made the bonds between the two main leads even stronger.
However, the drama got boring in the middle episodes. Only the live court gave some interesting specs to the story, as the villains were just predictable bad guys and the pace slowed down. Things got better towards the ending when Sun Ah got the reigns and her rivalry with Yo Han reached its peak.
As for the ending, it was a bit repetitive with its twists, but with loads of thriller scenes.
Characters
Yo Han is a popular Judge who is loved as an idol by the public. He is ruthless, doesn’t have any empathy, and seems to have a grey view of justice.
Ji Sung was brilliant as always and dominated every scene he was in.

Ga On is a rookie judge with a strong sense of justice. Coming from a poor background, he doesn’t understand the world of the privileged and often is baffled by their way of thinking. He is a loyal friend and not afraid to fight for what he believes.
Park Jin Young was delightful and had lots of chemistry with Ji Sung.

Sun Ah is a woman who moves things around in the fields of power. She is ready to do anything to get what she wants, as she loves power and expensive things.
Kim Min Jung had a strong character and she handled it masterfully. However, her character felt fake at times.

Soo Hyun is Ga On’s best friend. She is a police officer because she wanted to help her friend, with whom she’s openly in love, even though he brushes off her love confessions.
Park Gyu Young was a nice addition to the all-star cast.

The drama had a smooth pace most of the time and interesting camerawork in the first episodes.

My overall rating for the Korean Drama The Devil Judge is 6 out of 10. Strong performances and equally strong characters are the main advantages of this drama.
