Story

When Deok Chul, an elder good-natured man, appears at the ballet studio where up-and-coming ballet dancer Chae Rok is practicing. Deok Chul has always been dreaming of learning how to dance ballet, but due to his financial circumstances, he gave up on his dream. Now, he wants to get his chance before it’s too late. And he asks Chae Rok to teach him. Chae Rok, on the other hand, is a young man who is struggling to get his chance to become a great bellerino. He is living alone, and he is working hard to get by. And he has no intention of making his life even harder by taking up Deok Chul too.

Korean Drama Navillera, first of all, did a great job handling the dancing scenes. Everything were orchestrated beautifully with the right lighting that created the perfect atmosphere. The soundtrack suited the story too.

The story itself is masterfully crafted, with the twists nicely embedded into the plot. The smooth pace aided to intensify the bittersweet feeling of the story, as it being slow, allowed the characters to mature and the drama to gradually be built.

The key point, however, of the drama is the relationships that are created throughout. The one between the two main characters is the most impactful, though, and it is well presented, without rushing it to reach that perfect stage.

Characters

Deok Chul is an elder who feels like his time is running out and he needs to make his dreams come true before it’s too late. And he is determined to work hard and defy his family’s resistance to dance ballet at his age.

Park In Hwa was really sweet and did an uncredible job with this dancing scenes.

Chae Rok appears to be unfriendly and cold, as he is a closed-up character who has focused his entire life on succeeding in ballet, even though he has been often injured and he can’t afford to only working on his dancing. But he gradually starts to care about Deok Chul.

Song Kang excelled at his ballet parts and he gave an emotional performance.
