Summer Recommendations are back!! Like I did last year, I’ve picked up some old dramas that are refreshing and worth a shot if you haven’t watched them yet.

Story
Ji Ho is looking for a new home, after she has been kicked out of her own. She is struggling financially, so she can’t really afford a house by herself. So, when she sees an opening for a room, she takes it.
However, the owner and her new roomate, is a man in his 30s, Se Hee. Se Hee believes that is not really proper for a man and a woman to live together, so he proposes that he and Ji Ho can have a constructed marriage, something that both of them will benefit from. And, as Ji Ho has herself given up on dating, she agrees to that crazy plan.
Because this is my first was such a cute romantic comedy. Everything worked because the drama presented human relationships in a realistic way, without over-romanticizing the whole couple thing.
The constract marriage was managed perfectly, with a slowly built romance, as both leads got to know each other and tested the waters gradually.
The addition of the two other couples was a good choice as well. They weren’t just side characters, only there to support the main story and urge the main leads to progress with the story, or to fill in the gaps. Quite the opposite, they had equal time and they were both entertaining and gave the drama more interesting themes to explore.
Characters
Ji Ho is a quiet woman who dreams of having her own house one day. However, due to her struggles with her work and her finances, she can’t afford a home of her own. So, when she is asked by her landlord to have a contract marriage, she agrees, as that meant that she can have her own place finally.
Jung So Min is always delightful to watch and here she did a great job, without overdoing it.

Se Hee is a man who has chosen not to marry. He is very set in his own ways and he doesn’t enjoy the company of others. With Ji Ho, he has found a person who can understand him, as she doesn’t overstep her boundaries and she keeps her end of the bargain. However, he finds it hard to show her his feelings.
Lee Min Ki was the perfect actor for this character. He had nice chemistry with his partner as well.

Soo Ji is a business woman. She is the only woman in her team and she often has to act like the guys to be accepted and taken seriously. She applies that mentality to her love life as well.
Lee Som gave a really good performance as the strong female lead who didn’t put up with anything.

Sang Goo is a shy man who often is overlooked by his peers. He falls in love with Soo Ji because of her strong character. However, he finds it hard to keep up with her.
Park Byung Eun was pretty funny in this one.

Ho Rang is the more sentimental of the group of friends. She is a cute girl who thinks that she has to act womanly all the time in order to one day have her boyfriend propose to her. However, that doesn’t seem to be happening and she gets frustrated.
Kim Ga Eun was really cute and she handled her character masterfully.

Won Seok is Ho Rang’s boyfriend. He loves her, but he feels pressure to marry her. He thinks that he is not financially ready yet, but he doesn’t want to let her down either.
Kim Min Seok was really enjoyable in this one.

Cinematography
The drama handled the pace beautifully and had some nice scenes and atmosphere.
Overall
My overall rating for the Korean drama Because this is my first life is 9 out of 10. The drama is a delightful romantic drama with some light moments, but with realistic relationships.
