Korean Web Drama Let Me Off The Earth has enjoyable individual cases but messes up the main story

Story

Han Gyeol has been in a time loop and he has repeated the same class thirty-three times. Being unable to break free, he just gives in and goes through school life knowing the outcome of every twist in his life. He even creates an online fortune teller app where he advises his classmates. However, Han Gyeol starts to notice that small changes start happening this time around, changes that had never happened before.

Korean Drama Let Me Off The Earth is a lengthy drama that aired for about a year. It has a time loop theme that, because of the length of the drama, was often forgotten and the story focused more on the individual cases and adventures of the main characters.

Actually, the drama had multiple characters appearing throughout the drama and the main one often doesn’t appear in some episodes.

The main story about the time loop also is often set aside. It is not properly explored, explained nor concluded, probably indicating to a second season, if one takes into account the open ending.

Other than that, the short stories, usually having a duration of five episodes, were all school-related, either young love, bullying cases, and even family drama. Most of those were pretty interesting and were fun to watch.

It is also worthy to be noted that the drama explores a lot of issues related to young people and has a plethora of themes.

Characters

Han Gyeol has given up living a normal high school life and he only finds some short of amusement when he is the secret fortune-teller of his class.

Cho Han Gyeol was pretty amusing as the main lead.

Ye Jin is a bright and cute student who has a crush on Han Gyeol. She tries to express her feelings but she is turned down every time. However, this time, she seems to not be interested in him. Rather, she falls in love with another classmate.

Park Ye Jin was adorable and she did a great job with her performance.

Se Min is trying to balance his school life and his work. Due to his poor background, he is forced to have multiple part-time jobs and he often misses out on a lot of after-school activities, like spending time with his friends.

Ahn Se Min had a fun character who needed to have a better conclusion.

Cinematography

The drama had a fast pace and it had a smooth progress. The time loop, unfortunately, wasn’t handled very well.

Overall

My overall rating for the Korean Drama Let Me Off The Earth is 6 out of 10. The web sitcome was a good idea, but the time loop story was left unfinished.
