Story

Oh Joo In is a famous rom com actress who lives a simple life. Her only ambition is to buy her old house back, one that she lost after her father died. However, that house belongs now to Bi Soo, a scriptwriter who has already turned down Joo In twice and he is a sarcastic, dislikable man who likes living alone. By chance, though, his mother sells it to her, without him knowing about it. And now, for him to write his new drama and redeem his badly hurt from a scandal image, he asks Joo In not only to star in it, but also to let him rent his old room, where he can only write. But, Joo In has one condition: to call her master!

Korean Drama Oh My Ladylord! is, theoretically, an entertaining drama. The plotlines were basic, but good, they had potential and the start was pretty strong. However, the drama did not handle any of those well.

First of all, the drama took up too many stories. There was the family drama, the mothers, the fantasy, the romance, and the love triangle. The family drama was pretty good at first, but the conclusion lacked the intensity and the dynamics that it was needed, like they were resolved way too easily.

The mothers’ theme, however, was probably the best part of the drama. It was sweet, sad, and even nostalgic. The characters were really emotional and their relationships with their mothers warm and intense.

As for the fantasy element, that was introduced in the first episode, kind of got forgotten after that and only got refocused on it in the ending. Plus, it wasn’t well explained, and it felt half-baked. It also ruined the ending, which was a sock after a series of bad episodes.

The romance, on the other hand, was almost well-paced, but plenty of sweet, romantic moments, but it was overshadowed by the love triangle, as the writers chose to give more gravity to it and, thus, overcomplicated things unnecessarily.

The love triangle, itself, was boring, old, and annoying. They even tried to create some bromance, which was off the pace and badly edited. The side couples also were a failure and they both lacked the comedy element that they tried hard to produce.

Finally, and this is kind of a detail but still, it would have been nice if things were different, they should have added more scenes with the girl working as an actress and less with her staying at home. It would have been more believable to associate her as a celebrity this way.

Characters

Joo In is a hard working celebrity who became famous only so she can earn money and get her old house back. She loves her mother and she wants to live with her once again. She also cherishes her every relationship.

Nana, after that mesmerizing performance in KDrama Into the Ring, she once again proves that she is a great actress. However, in this drama, only the performances were enjoyable, and those were not enough to save it.

Bi Soo is a difficult character. He loves order, tidiness, and having his own way. He can be rude, sarcastic, and erratic when he doesn’t like something. But, he can also be really sweet when it is needed.

Lee Min Ki seems to be cast for these characters often. He did a good job here as well, and he had chemistry with his partner.

Yu Jin is Joo In’s oldest friend. He has been supporting her for years, but now he wants to be more than friends and will do anything to win her heart.

Kang Min Hyuk had an endearing character, but he gave a smooth performance.

Cinematography

The pace was tricky, the edit messy at times, the ending horrible and the love triangle a disaster. But the drama did have some sweet moments with the old house and the family scenes.

Overall

My overall rating for the Korean Drama Oh My Ladylord! is 4 out of 10. Good actors, sweet moments but a horrible story were the main characteristics of this drama.
