“Memorist” had a complex story, packed with action and twists.
Story
Dong Baek has the special, extraordinary ability to read memories by touch. He uses his gift to help the police solve criminal cases. But when he comes across The Eraser, a killer whose web of secrets and motives go beyond imagination, Dong Baek starts working with Sun Mi, a young, genius profiler, who has an eye for detail and can crack any case, in order to catch him.
“Memorist” started with a simple abduction case and turned out to be a twisted, often confusing, but with a shocking twist in the end, serial killer case.
The two main characters were pretty great, and they didn’t overshadow each other, as they both dominated the scenes. The lack of romance was another plus for this action drama too.
In addition, the case’s main protagonists were well constructed and with intense storylines. Plus, the friendship of the police force was not only a comedy relief but a nice, human touch to the, otherwise, heavy story.
That said, the story was indeed overbearing after a while, as the drama didn’t allow the viewer to catch their breath and comprehend what they have just watched. The twists followed one another too closely and the plot was heavily packed with action, characters and secrets.
Characters
Dong Baek is a renowned detective, popular for his ability to see other people’s memories, his canny character, and his good looks. However, his hot temper often creates problems for him and his team, as he often gets into fights and acts impulsively.
His life hasn’t been an easy one, either. He can’t remember his childhood, only his mother being killed and himself growing up as an orphan. However, his past holds more secrets about him and the case that he is trying to solve.
Yoo Seung Ho has a smooth way with his performances and he is a master with the action scenes as well. In “Memorist” he also adopted a sassy but playful attitude that suited his character perfectly.

Sun Mi is a genius police profiler. Even as a child, she has been amongst the most brilliant youngsters and she is now the youngest who passed the police bar exams and has such a powerful position in the force.
However, she too has a tragic past that is connected with the case. Lee Se Young handled her character without overdoing it with the dramatic scenes or with her personality overall. She was actually a delight to watch.

Cinematography
The drama managed the flashbacks masterfully and kept the tempo fast throughout the drama.
Overall
My overall rating for the korean drama “Memorist” is 7 out of 10. As an action thriller, Memorist did a good job with the criminal case and the characters, but it was a bit too tiring at times.
