“365: Repeat the Year” presents a complex serial murders case with a fantasy twist.
Story
Ten people are summoned by a mysterious organization, ran by a psychologist, Lee Shin. Miss Lee promises them that they can reset their previous year, by repeating it. All of them agree, and, true to her promise, they are all back in the past. But, not all of them, as it turns out, as one of the time travelers got killed after coming back. All of them are reassured that it was an accident, and start living their lives again, avoiding the mistakes of the past. That is until another one of them gets killed. Soon, they discover that they are being targeted by a serial killer and that soon all of them will be dead if they don’t figure out who’s the criminal.
“365: Repeat the Year” had an ambitious story. The crime mystery was unexpected and difficult to figure out, as all of the characters involved had secrets and could easily turn out to be the culprit. Even the main characters weren’t spare being suspected.
The subtle bond between those two was a nice touch, as it didn’t evolve into a romance, rather, it was left into the viewers’ interpretation, without adding unnecessary romantic scenes and keeping the plot clean and mystery driven.
The story was full of twists, as well, and moving in a fast, breathtaking almost, pace. The action scenes were nicely constructed too.
However, the first episodes were not as engaging as they should and ended up a bit boring. The whole process of going back in time was not fully explained either. The ending, however, was just perfect for this drama.
Characters
Hyung Joo is a violent crimes detective. He has lost his partner before the reset and he aims to make sure that he lives this time around. However, after saving him, he has to crack the case of his fellow time travelers being killed, before he is the next victim. Lee Joon Hyuk did a nice job with his character, especially when he was being the suspect.
Ga Hyun is a popular author of a crime webtoon. Before the reset, she was in an accident that had costed her legs’ movement. After going back in time, she avoids being injured, but that change costs her best friend’s life instead. That triggers her suspicions against the organization that provides the reset and leads to her working closely with Hyung Joo in order to solve the case. Nam Ji Hyun was actually amazing in this one and she had nice chemistry with her partner.

Lee Shin is the mysterious psychologist who runs the rest organization. She seems to be willing to help and care for the participants, but she appears to be behind many of the crimes that are committed against them. Kim Jee Soo was pretty great as the secretive master of the organization and she moved from evil to angel pretty smoothly.
Cinematography
The drama had a quick pace, but it made the story confusing sometimes.
Overall
My overall rating for the korean drama “365: Repeat the Year” is 6.5 out of 10. The drama didn’t handle everything properly, but the twists were well managed.
