Story

Mi Jo, Chan Young, and Joo Hee are best friends since they were in high school. Mi Jo is adopted and she is now a skin doctor. Chan Young is an acting teacher, though she was dreaming of becoming an actress herself. And Joo Hee is a makeup salesperson who is shy when it comes to her romantic life. However, their life is about to change when Chan Young discovers that she is terminally ill.

Korean Drama Thirty-Nine is a melodrama about three thirty-nine-year-old women who deal with their family and life problems.

The drama starts by revealing the outcome of the story, as well as introducing the main characters.

The story progresses after that by having the three friends trying to cope with their upcoming loss.

However, the romance was predictable and cheesy and often stole the screentime from the main plot, which was more interesting and intense.

The dynamics between the friends and between them and their families were on point as well. They were also the reason for the tear-jerking moments of the drama.

The drama presented the story in an interesting way, with the result being known to the viewer right from the start.

Overall

My overall rating for the Korean Drama Thirty-Nine is 6.5 out of 10. The drama had a strong story, but it didn’t handle it well, resulting in a just decent drama.
