Korean Drama The Spies Who Loved Me was ambitious but messy
Story
Ah Reum seems to have a type when it comes to men, as both her ex and her current husband are spies, though she has no idea about their jobs. However, when a case that involves her friend Sophie comes to light, she will get involved in their undercover schemes.
Korean Drama The Spies Who Loved Me has an interesting idea for a storyline. The ex-spouses’ dynamics are spot on and the lingering feelings make it even more exciting, especially when the current husband is in the picture.
However, the love story ends up being awkward. The drama doesn’t handle the romance well, as it throws the ex-husband to the leading lady from the start, but gives the illusion of a good marriage for her with her current husband. The ending was pretty messy, in addition, and it was rushly made.
Still, even though the romance was a failure, the bromance was enjoyable. The two men had chemistry and their dynamics were more than comical. The two had also plenty of action scenes together.
Also, the mystery case was entertaining and thrilling at first, but got confusing as they kept adding more characters in the mixture. Though some undercover acts were nicely orchestrated.
Finally, the side characters are a good addition, but they are often forgotten. Moreover, the scenes with Ah Reum and her wedding dresses were aesthetically pleasing and authentic.
Characters
Ah Reum is a wedding designer. She used to not believe in marriage, but she falls in love with Ji Hoon, who shared her views, and they tighten the knot. However, their marriage didn’t last long. Now, Ah Reum is married to Derek, the perfect man, but her heart starts to confuse her when she meets Ji Hoon again.
Yoo In Na gave a performance with a beautiful mixture of naive and strong female lead.

Ji Hoon uses the cover of a travel writer to hide his true occupation, an undercover agent for Interpol. His job often gets him in trouble, but also cost him his marriage, as he chose to let his wife go and not reveal his identity.
Eric Moon nailed his action scenes and he was also delightful in his comedy scenes.

Derek works as a diplomat and he seems to be the perfect husband, he is caring, sweet and insightful. However, in reality, he is a cold and calculative industrial spy.
Im Joo Hwan is the perfect choice for the bad guy with a sensitive side. He did great here as always.

The drama had a fast pace and plenty of action scenes.
Overall
