Korean Drama Doctor Slump is a slice of life more than a medical drama
Story
Ha Neul and Jeong Woo were academic rivals when they were at school, as they were both trying to get into medical school. But, their life turn differently, with Ha Neul being an anesthesiologist, who is mistreated by her seniors, whether Jeong Woo became a popular plastic surgeon. However, they meet again at their lowest point, when Ha Neul resigns after being diagnosed with depression, and Jeong Woo is framed and accused of murder.
Korean Drama Doctor Slump is a healing drama about people who bond together despite their differences in order to get through the rough patch in life.
The drama indeed has a healing story, with enough sweet moments, as the main couple bond firstly as friends and later as lovers. But, it is also true that once the relationship was established, the drama failed to keep the momentum and, thus, it got boring when it came to the main couple. Fortunately, the side couple were enjoyable enough to present some funny moments.
Also, the drama doesn’t provide many medical scenes. Rather, it focuses on the personal lives of the doctors and their families.
Especially Ha Neul’s family were sweet and funny. On the other hand, it would have been nice if there was some insight into Jeong Woo’s family.
In addition, the mystery drama around his case was stretched thin and got boring.
Characters
Ha Neul was a prodigy when she was at school, as she dedicated every waking moment to studying. She feels, however, that her life didn’t turn out as she dreamed and has to accept that she needs a break to face with new energy any problem she encounters.
Park Shin Hye gave a nice performance and it was a welcomed comeback.

Jeong Woo is a famous plastic surgeon who has a friendly character and is aloof and energetic. However, after a surgery that went wrong, he loses everything, even his own confidence.
Park Hyung Sik was sweet as always.

Dae Young is a doctor and also Jeong Woo’s friend. He has been raising his daughter since his divorce and he has been trying to match his friend’s popularity with comical results.
Yoon Park was funny and adorable.

Hong Ran is Ha Neul’s best friend and senior. She is a single mother who has dedicated her life to her career and to raising her son.
Kong Seong Ha had smooth chemistry with her partner and handled her character nicely.
