Soul Mechanic had a heartwarming story.
Story
Shi Joon and his team are trying to treat mentally ill patients using unconventional ways that other doctors frown upon. He himself cares about his patients and wants to understand them and go deeper than what the symptoms show.
While helping one of these patients, Shi Joon comes across the musical actress Woo Joo. She is one of the upcoming talents in the field, but her anger issues and psychological breakdowns make it difficult for the other actors to work with her. And, as Woo Joo sees her career being threatened by her behavior, she finds comfort in Shi Joon’s company.
Soul Mechanic used many cases to showcase the heartwarming atmosphere that it built.
And they didn’t just add them in the beginning and then focused on the story. They kept them almost till the ending.
The main plot was good as well. The two characters were interesting and they had nice chemistry. Their relationship was slow paced and it kind of made sense.
However, the whole drama about the hospital politics was boring. The ending resolved everyone’s issues too easily too.
Characters
Shi Joon is a psychiatrist who cares deeply about his patients. He is a warm person with a bright personality and a cheerful attitude towards life. However, his family life is a difficult one, and he is still trying to resolve things with his father.
Shin Ha Kyun didn’t seem the right choice for this drama at first, but he quickly wins over the audience with his smooth performance and warm smile.
Woo Joo is a musical actress who is dreaming of having her own main role one day. However, she has anger issues, something that causes problems with the production team and her colleagues. She is trying to work on them, but her family problems keep bringing the anger back.
Jung So Min was really good as Woo Joo and she didn’t overact her anger bursts.

Cinematography
The drama had a relaxing tempo and they presented each story with quite an emotional mood.
Overall
My overall rating for the Korean drama Soul Mechanic is 7 out of 10. The drama had its boring moments, but it was a warm and hopeful drama.
