Story

Jung Hoon is a famous news anchor. He is famous for his looks and his sharp remarks. Everyone is scared to be interviewed by him. Everyone but the rising actress, Ha Jin.

She, in fact, after their interview, starts liking him and when rumors about them dating come out, she doesn’t correct them, rather, she encourages them. And their pretend romance will benefit her, as her popularity goes wildly up and her new movie is a smash hit.

So, Ha Jin will ask Jung Hoon to not reveal their real relationship and keep pretending until her movie promotions are over. However, Jung Hoon has a secret that leads him to agree to Ha Jin’s odd request.

He has hyperthymesia, which allows him to remember everything, ever since he was a toddler. Unfortunately, his unique ability fills him with the haunting memories of his girlfriend, Seo Young, dying in front of his eyes. And, surprisingly, Ha Jin reminds him of her in a terrifying way. And yet, Ha Jin seems to not know anyone called Seo Young.

Find me in your memory had a strong start, with a compelling story and a well crafted mystery regarding everyone’s relationships and pasts. The romance, then, was well paced, slow, giving the couple enough time to get to know each other and fall in love slowly, though the leading lady did like the male lead straight from the start.

Still, the drama focused more on what happened in the past and the characters’ tragedic encounters. The side characters were delightful as well, and added comedy relief to the otherwise, emotional heavy story. Finally, the newsroom world, in addition to the celebrity’s everyday life, were nicely presented and constructed.

However, after the first half, the drama got boring. They used well know, cliche trops here and there and the big mystery was already revealed, so there were a few surprises yet to be introduced.

The love story seemed to reach a standstill as well, as the drama was a bit tiring. The ending was also predictable. At least, they wrapped up every storyline.

Characters

Jung Hoon is a famous anchor who is not afraid to ask the tough questions. He has a terrific memory, as he is able to remember everything in detail. However, that also means that he can’t forget the most painful memories, like his first love and her loss. When he meets Ha Jin, he starts feeling like the past is being repeated. Kim Dong Wook was a great main lead, especially since he fitted the character so well.

Watch Kim Dong Wook in the KDrama Special Labor Inspector Jo as well.

Ha Jin is a bubbly young actress, who seems always happy and positive. However, she suffers from memory loss, as she has blocked a big part of her past from her memory, because of the pain it had costed her. That memory will start resurfacing after she meets Jung Hoon, whom, she feels she has to protect. Moon Ga Yoong was delightful as Ha Jin and she nailed the dramatic scenes.

Tae Eun is a neurologist that knows Jung Hoon and he has worked with Ha Jin in the past. Thus, he knows both their secrets and wants to see them happy and safe. He is friendly and a gentle character. Yoon Jong Hoon was a nice supporting character as always and his performance was excellent.
