Story

Kondu is a reaper who appears every 99 years to bring justice and punish those who deserve it. This time, he takes the body of a sweet and successful doctor, who has been wrongly killed. Thus, he meets Gye Jeol, a young doctor with a bright personality who somehow is linked to him.

Korean Drama Kokdu: Season of Deity is a fantasy drama about a deity who falls in love with a mortal.

And even though Kokdu’s character could have been the source of many comical moments, the drama opted to focus on the reincarnation trope as well as the romance, both of which were boring and unoriginal.

Also, the drama kept going in circles, with lots of twists happening that didn’t really make any sense for the main plot, but were there only to spice things up temporarily.

In addition, the love story was cheesy and used a lot of old twists.

Characters

Gye Jeol is a doctor who is bright and cheerful. She is always willing to help the others around her.

Im Soo Hyang had an annoying character, but she gave an energetic performance.

Kok Du is a reaper who appears every 99 years in order to punish humanity. He is arrogant, selfish, and self-centered, but he hides a loneliness and a mournful past.

Kim Jung Hyun was decent, but the script didn’t help him.

Overall

My overall rating for the Korean Drama Kokdu: Season of Deity is 3 out of 10. The drama didn’t have a smooth storyline and it was also boring.
