Korean Drama A Killer Paradox is more about cinematography and less about the story
Story
Lee Tang, a college student and part-time employee at a convenience store, kills a customer one night after blacking out. Wracked with guilt, he is preparing to be called on by the police, when he learns that the victim was a serial killer. Soon, he will also discover that he can somehow sense the ‘bad ones’, and he becomes an avenger who hunts them down. However, Detective Nan Gam is out to get him.
Korean Drama A Killer Paradox is a fantasy thriller that is character-centric.
The drama offers some crime stories before it focuses on the hunt for Lee Tang. It also showcases the main character’s feelings, remorse, empathy, confusion, and guilt realistically, not having him accept his ‘calling’ from the start, but having him go through the journey of transition. That made him not just another cold-blooded serial killer, but a character that was easy to empathize with at times.
The main plot, on the other hand, ended up being boring, badly handled, and losing its momentum. It also didn’t take advantage of the dynamics between the two main leads and it focused too much on the cinematography.
The latter was impressive at first, one can easily get used to the sharp transition between the scenes and the lost time between them, but, in the end, it left too many things out, and it felt like it was the main point of the drama rather than the story.
