Korean Drama The Moment the Heart Shines is a common school drama.
Story
Bit Nara feels like she is invisible to her classmates. Except from her two best friends, no one seems to remember or acknowledge her, mainly because she doesn’t have social media accounts. However, that is about to change when Bit Nara agrees to enter a school competition where students with the biggest follower base win.
Korean Drama The Moment the Heart Shines is a typical school drama with a little intrigue, some romance and loads of friendship.
The drama uses the Social Media fever to its advantage, showing not only the good side of it, but its aftermath to the user’s mental health. It presents them as an unavoidable necessity for socializing, something that even the main lead questions.
However, the drama soon takes that refreshing approach and pushes it aside, focusing on the romance, which was lukewarm, boring and predictable, especially since it wasn’t aided at all by the love triangle.
The friendship part could have been handled in a better way as well. The three girls had strong dynamics and it was interesting to explore their relationship. Instead, the story creates unnecessary drama with tiring and cheesy results.
In addition, Bit Nara’s past experience wasn’t explored in depth. Rather, it was used as a plot prompt in many times, but left out a lot of grey areas.
Characters
Bit Nara is a bright and cute girl who is friendly and funny. However, she has a hard time fitting in with her peers.
Choi Ji Su was very energetic and gave a good performance.

Joon Young is the popular guy of his school. He is full of confidence and believes that everyone likes him. However, he is a warm person who helps his friends.
Oh Jae Woong did a nice job with his character.
Seok Jin is Bit Nara’s friend. He seems to be a nonchallenging guy who doesn’t care about anything, but he is the opposite of that.
Jung Su Bin was a cute second lead.

Cho Hyeon is the new girl in her class. She quickly becomes popular due to her looks and she is the school’s favorite to win the Social Media competitions.
Shin So Hyun gave a smooth performance and she had an intriguing character.
Cinematography
The drama had a relaxing pace for its length and handled the social media themed scenes smoothly.
Overall
My rating for the Korean Drama The Moment the Heart Shines is 5 out of 10. The drama started with a refreshing story, but got cliche towards the ending.
