Even though it doesn’t offer anything fresh, Japanese Drama Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte is a confy, warm drama with a sweet romance

Story

When Kurumi forgets to renew her lease, she finds a new place with her friend’s Koko’s help. However, she has to share it with four other people. On top of that, her beloved boss, whom she had a crush on for ages and she always strive to impress, quits and disappears. Now Kurumi will have to navigate on her own while getting to know her roommates.

Japanese Drama Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte is a cozy drama to watch, with some interesting twists here and there and many, though cliche, romantic, heart-racing moments.

The drama combines nicely food, business, social media hecticness, friendship, love, and family values. This blend results in a warm story with a relaxed pace and not too much drama.

Actually, the drama was produced mainly by the love triangle. The second lead spiced up the relationship that, even though it was formed early on, it was smoothly presented and was kept fresh through the small twists that the couple had to confront.

As a whole, the love story was sweet, realistic, though it needed to turn up a bit the intensity, as the couple had chemistry to support it.

The side characters, moreover, were a nice touch to add. They, moreover, didn’t stick to support and be friends with the main characters but had their own stories and romances to follow.

In addition, the social media trope was handled very well, as the drama showed both the fun side and the dark side of the internet popularity.

Maruyama Ryuhei was really sweet and he added warm vibes to the drama.

Ayaka is a young artist who, while struggling to become established. she works as a delivery for a supermarket. She is a mysterious character, who likes to keep to herself and express herself through her art.

Nakamura Anne, though her character was the most secretive one, created a nice balance to the mix.

Koko is Kurumi’s firend. She is the mother figure of the group, always caring for others.

Natsukawa Yui gave a good performance and she was a real mother hen.

Shogo is the CEO and founder of the company where Kurumi works. He is friendly and optimistic and he keeps giving signs to Kurumi that he likes her back, until he disappears.

Mukai Osamu was a good second lead and he created enough intensity with the male lead.

  1. Great review! I enjoyed this drama too. I agree that even though the relaxing atmosphere is great it can still be more intense and dramatic.
