Story

In the afterlife, the dead can be reincarnated or live in one of the afterlife’s levels. Orphaned at a young age, Siu Yu becomes a life coach for a living client in order to move from the second level to the third, where her parents reside. Her task is to give a certain amount of misfortune to a boy called Pak Ho. Pak Ho has been unfortunate all his life, and his current circumstances are still bad. So, Siu Yu can’t help but want to take care of him instead of fulfilling her duties.

Hong Kong Drama Hello Missfortune is a drama that feels light and rom com-y, but has a rather serious and dramatic story.

The series starts in a dark mood, with the death of Siu Yu’s parents and the introduction of the concept of the afterlife. Then, it moves to the struggles of Pak Ho and his family situation.

After that, the drama gives a sweeter note to the plot, with the two main leads meeting and falling in love, only to be set apart by Siu Yu’s past and murder case, a crime that threatens to be repeated in the present.

However, some parts of the drama were a bit overplayed, like Siu Yu’s reaction and behavior halfway through the story.

Still, the plot was well handled, loaded with emotional scenes and a nicely constructed mystery case.

The ending was also as realistic as it could be for a fantasy drama. It was a happy one for the characters in its own way, which gave a bittersweet feeling in the end.
