Story

Mi Ho is swept into the world of her estranged step-sister who gets murdered, leaving behind two little girls and a lot of questions unanswered.

Korean Drama Battle for Happiness is a mystery melodrama centered around five women.

The story starts off with the rich housewives of an apartment complex who also have children at the same school, and are trying to get ahead of one another in the social media arena.

However, things get more complicated when one of them gets murdered, a woman who knows a lot of secrets and she was using them to rise in power.

On that aspect, the drama is more or less like the rest of the melodramas that concern mothers battling with one another.

However, the drama gets bolder, leaving behind the old makjang tropes and focusing on the mystery, which had a lot of twists, dark scandals, twisty secrets, and many grey characters.

The friendship that bloomed between the women was, in addition, a nice note, and the endings of their individual stories were great.

Characters

Mi Ho is a woman who has focused her life on her career at a bank, having no personal life, and with her mother as her only family. She is a loner and she creates walls around her.

Lee El could have handled her emotional scenes better, as her acting surprised looked fake.

Jung Ah is the new queen of the group. She is a cold rich woman who is not the typical housewife, being a businesswoman, a mother, and a wife.

Jin Seo Yun gave a strong performance.

Na Young is a fashionista who is trying to keep those in power close, often taking their side even if they are being manipulative and unfair. However, she is unhappy with her marriage.

Cha Ye Ryun had a surprisingly interesting character.

Ji Ye is a single mother. She appears friendly, being in the lower ranks of the group, but she has a lot of dark secrets.

Woo Jeong Won was pretty enjoyable.

Yu Jin is the queen of social media, presenting a perfect life, even though she hides a lot of secrets.

Park Hyo Joo gave an intense performance.
