Story

After their family home was burnt down and her mother was accused of doing it, Anzu’s life was turned upside down: her father married her mother’s best friend and left them to fend for themselves, as their mother suffered from amnesia and was hospitalized. Thirteen years later, Anzu disguises herself and is hired to work as a maid for her new stepmother, while harboring her plan for revenge.

Japanese Drama Burn The House Down is a revenge melodrama.

The story is pretty intense at first, with the main character trying hard to find evidence that her stepmother had ruined her life. Her old crush who was trying to bring her down was another enjoyable element.

Unfortunately, and despite the interesting characters, especially the side ones, the drama started getting boring and overcomplicated for no reason.

The romance was, in addition, awkward, as the whole plot was focused on the revenge part, thus, not leaving any room for any romantic progress between the leads.

The pace was okay and the twists were well handled, as well as the flashbacks.

Overall

My overall rating for the Japanese Drama Burn The House Down is 6.5 out of 10. After a while, the twists got frustrating.
