Japanese Drama Marry Me! is a warm and cozy slice of life with a cute couple.
Story
Shin is a civil worker who is assigned to work in a government program called ‘NEET Protection Law’. The so-called program sets up civil servants with NEETs, people who have trouble fitting in and need help to be reintroduced to society. Shin is very keen to do his best, as he sees it as another job assignment. However, the woman who is assigned to him, Himari, has been enrolled in the program without her knowledge. Now Shin will have to convince her that she should marry him.
JDrama Marry Me! was one of the cutest contract marriage dramas out there. And, truthfully, a lot of these dramas came out lately.
The relationship was built slowly, as they took their time to get to know each other and to start having feelings for each other. Therefore, the couple was simply a delight to watch, with lots of adorable, sweet moments, and smooth chemistry.
As for the side characters, they added some twists to the main story, but they didn’t steal the thunder from the main couple. They also gave a warm, family feeling to the drama.
Overall, the story was simple, with a nice structure and an adorable couple.
Characters
Shin is a social servant who wants to do his best in every aspect of his professional life. As he has never really been in love, he believes that he is the perfect man for the job when he enters the NEET program. However, he starts to warm up towards his new wife and wants to protect her and make her happy.
Seto Toshiki did a great job, presenting a character development for his role.
Himari was left an orphan when her grandparents died. Now, her only family is an old cat, until Shin offers to be there for her. Slowly, shy Himari will open up to him and start enjoying life again.
Kumada Rinka was extremely cute and was a scene stealer.
Sho is Shin’s younger brother. Still in high school, he feels like he is invisible in his class, and so he decides to quit school and move in with his brother. While living with the new couple, he will learn that he has more people who love him than he thinks.
Mizusawa Rintaro did really well with his dramatic scenes.
Waka is Shin’s co worker and ex girlfriend. She still isn’t over him and she wants to warn Himari that Shin is incapable of love and that she needs to divorce him.
Even though Sato Hirumi was the antagonist, she was pretty likable.
Cinematography
The drama had a quick pace and a homey atmosphere.
Overall
My overall rating for the Japanese Drama Marry Me! is 8 out of 10. The drama was cozy, sweet and had the perfectly cute couple.
