A movie where Jin Young shined.
Story
Dong Hyun is a chubby high school student who is being bullied. After being chased on a rooftop, he falls on gang leader Pan Soo. And that’s when they swap bodies. Now, Pan Soo has to live as Dong Hyun, while trying to protect his position as the gang leader, as his body, with the real Dong Hyun in it, is in a coma. Pan Soo will have to slim down, balk up and face Dong Hyun’s bullies. But, while in the school boy’s body, he meets his first love and falls in love with her all over again. However, his first love is now his high school friend’s mother.
The movie was funny, sad and it blended emotions and action scenes masterfully. The only thing that was odd was when Pan Soo, in Dong Hyun’s body, was trying to win his love’s forgiveness and heart, when she was like his mother. I guess that’s why their chemistry was off and it was hard to invest in their romance. However, the rest of the movie was pretty good. The final ending was good as well and concluded everything nicely.
Characters
Pan Soo is an arrogant gang lord who shows no mercy to his enemies. When he switches bodies with a high schooler, he has to make amends with his past and fix Dong Hyun’s life. Park Sung Woong displayed a variety of roles, as the ruthless gang leader at first and then, as Dong Hyun as well, when he played a softer, more naive character.
Dong Hyun is a shy high school boy who is being bullied. He lives with his father, who adores him, but doesn’t know about his son’s school life. Jung Jin Young was excellent as both Pan Soo and Dong Hyun. He mastered the action scenes and his performance was the best part of the movie.
Cinematography
The movie handled decently the fantasy part, as well as the action scenes.
Overall
My overall rating for this movie is 8 out of 10. There were some flaws, but the performances were top notch.
