Hwa Sun has figured out a way to catch the source of the ‘illness’ and kill it in order to eradicate it. However, Do Yoon gets missing, and she is taken to the chemical plant, where Hwa Sun and Tae Han had found evidence of another survivor.
Yet, when they arrive there, they discover that he is not the one behind everything. Rather, Dong Rim is the host and she is the one behind everything. Thus, Hwa Sun tries to save her, but the monster inside her grows out its tentacles and creates a new body. Then it makes clear that it wanted Hwa Sun as its new host, but she kept resisting it.
At the final battle, Dong Rim decides to sacrifice herself, overtakes the monster and Hwa Sun finds her chance to freeze it up and kill it. After that, everything goes back to normal. And a year later, it is shown that Do Yoon is adopted by Hyun Ho’s family, while the rest are carrying on with their lives. However, that is when another dark hole is discovered, as the news announce.
Dark Hole had a thrilling story till the very end, as it kept things on the edge, with lots of twists and horrible characters. However, the ending was too ‘fantastical’ and rushed, as the drama till then gave a more humane twist on the zombie-like monsters.
It also left out the explanation of what was the monster, its origin, as well as what was the dark hole. The ending, still, was happy but gave a darker note with the news announcement.
