Story

Shi On is dreaming of becoming a dancer like his mother, who left him after she got married and moved away. So, Shi On dances while thinking of her, as she is his muse. However, Shi On owns money to a loan shark company. And that is when Hong Seok comes asking him to pay up. Shi On manages to convince him that he can repay everything if he wins the upcoming dancing audition. But, having his boss mad at him for agreeing to Shi On’s terms, Hong Seok will have to move in with him to make sure that he gets cast.

Korean Drama You make me dance has an original idea for a plot, but they didn’t manage to pull it through. The drama has lots of plot holes that aren’t necessarily due to its short length.

The story does start well, with the podcast about the red thread myth and the two characters meeting for the first time. The drama also brings everything together smoothly, using some twists here and there and the good nature of the main character.

However, after the first episodes, everything else happens in a flash. Characters have a change of heart in the time period of an alteration of episodes, the love story’s pace is messy and many plot lines, like the mother issue, are left unsolved.

The main character was also annoying, acting like a child most of the time and confronting his partner more than once, who, by the way, was trying to help him and didn’t even act like an actual creditor.

The dancing sequences were good though and the ending a happy one.

Characters

Shi On is studying dancing and he truly has dancing in his blood, as his mother was also a dancer. He is free spirited and does his best to fit in.

Chu Young Woo nailed his dancing scenes, but his character was annoying and many times didn’t make sense.

Hong Seok works for a loan shark company and he collects debts for them. He, however, hates his job and who it turned him into. That is why Shi On’s case is his last one. But, he finds himself being drawn to the boy’s dance and he wants to help him pay up his dues.

Won Hyung Hoon was really sweet as the main lead and did well with his character.

Cinematography

The drama has a messy pace. The settings looked to be freezing cold too.
