Story

Do Hyun Soo lives a stolen life. He goes by Beak Hee Sung, the son of a hospital director and a pharmacist, who is married to Ji Won, a police detective. And, although, he appears to be the perfect father and husband, in reality, he is unable to feel emotions, especially empathy, and he hides more secrets than that, like his serial killer father, or his murderous past. But, when a case that is similar to that of his father’s, appears, Ji Won’s team will start investigating Hyun Soo, a turn of events which will shutters his perfect cover.

Korean Drama Flower of Evil had one thing really going for it, the unpredictable characters. The drama starts with the viewer being introduced to the main character as the villain who is using his wife and everyone around him to keep his identity hidden.

But, as the drama progresses, more details about what had happened in the past and about the main case come to light, the suspects change and everything turn upside down.

The side characters were also well developed, with solid storylines and enough involvement to the main story. Spot on was the family drama as well, with many sweet moments between father and daughter in addition to the warmth of the main couple.

The ending was itself a twist. Though they did add some cliche, aged trop for the final episode, they handled it perfectly, leaving the audience with a bittersweet taste in the end.

As for the main case, though an experienced viewer might have guessed the real culprit, the mystery was interesting and thrilling. The hunting of the truth was suspenseful too, and had many twists.’

Characters

Hee Sung is the perfect husband. He is a successful metal artist, a good father and a loving partner. However, he hides some dark secrets that can change everything once they come to light.

Lee Joon Gi dominated every scene and his performance helped a lot to the success of the drama.

Ji Won works as a police detective. She tries to get to the bottom of things and discover the truth by getting to know the people involved in her cases and always giving them the benefit of a doubt. She expresses her feeling vividly and always works hard to achieve her goals.

Although Moon Chae Won‘s character was a bit endearing at times, she did a nice job with her performance.

Moo Jin works as a journalist and he has some successes in his career. Being from the same village as Hyun Soo, he used to be his friend and he even dated his sister, before everything got a turn for the worst.

Seo Hyun Woo was a god second lead and he offered some comedy reliefs when it was needed.

Cinematography

The drama had a fast pace and the right atmosphere for the suspenseful story, but it started repeating patterns towards the ending.
