Story

Eun Gyeol, whose family is hearing impaired, has always struggled to be perfect and make his parents proud. However, he is also passionate about music, and so, he plays in a popular band at night, to his father’s dismay. But, one night, he stumbles across an odd music shop, that sends him back in time, when his father was a teenager, before he lost his hearing ability, and when he was dreaming of becoming a music star himself. So, Eun Gyeol makes it his mission to prevent his father from getting into that faithful accident that will leave him hearing impaired.

Korean Drama Twinkling Watermelon is a school drama with a warm story. It is about family, friendship, first love, and the love for music.

The story is emotional but has its light moments, with the comedy being just enough to keep things from getting too depressing.

Also, the time travel trope was nicely handled, as it was straightforward and didn’t get confusing.

The characters were, in addition, interesting and their chemistry was smooth, creating the right atmosphere for the story to blossom and get more intense.

The ending, finally, was another nice touch and fitted the story overall.
