Story

Tanaka is a young teacher who is in love with a character from a popular game. However, when one of her students, Murai, who has confessed to her in the past and was turned down, changes his appearance and starts looking just like her idol, things start getting complicated for Tanaka.

Japanese Drama Murai no Koi is a teacher-student romantic comedy.

The drama checks all the boxes of a school romance, with school festivals, field trips, and many many more.

The comedy breaks were delightful and nicely embedded into the story, spicing it up and smoothing off any awkward moment.

On the other hand, the central love story was weak. The teacher-student relationship was badly handled and the love triangle did not help it at all.

The side couple was entertaining, though, however, they didn’t have much screen time.

Characters

Tanaka is an otaku who has no personal life. Rather, she lives a content life following her favorite game characters.

Takahashi Hikaru was funny and a strong lead.

Murai is a student who is sweet and friendly and shy at the same time.

Miyase Ryubi had an enjoyable character.

Cinematography

The drama has a short length, so the story was rushed.

Overall

My overall rating for the Japanese Drama Murai no Koi is 3 out of 10. The story should have been handled in a better way.
