Hee Do and Yi Jin, after the scandal with Yu Rim choosing to compete for Russia due to her family’s financial situation, Yi Jin’s move to New York to cover the news from there, and his choice to set his career over his relationship, lead to them breaking up.

Hee Do realized that she is dating someone who acts like her mother, something that she wanted to avoid. Thus, she takes the difficult decision to call it quits.

However, their separation is painful for both parties. And there are moments when they want to see each other and ask to get back together, but they do not.

Years later, Hee Do gives her last match, winning the gold medal for Korea and announcing that she is retiring. And she gets interviewed by Yi Jin, who has become the main news anchor of the channel. He congratulates her on her wedding and wishes her the best. She does so as well, proving that they both have amicable feelings for each other after all this time.

Meanwhile, Ji Woong surprises Yu Rim at the academy where she teaches fencing and asks her to marry him, which she accepts.

In the present time, Hee Do’s daughter finds her lost diary at the bookstore where Hee Do had been renting her comic books when she was a teenager. The owner explains to the girl that it was left to him by Yi Jin.

Hee Do goes through the pages, feeling nostalgic, when she finds a passage by Yi Jin, a message that finally helps her find closure, admitting that her relationship with him aided in her growth and her career and her feeling less lonely when she was fighting alone and with no friends.

In the last scene, a man is seen trying to log in to an old account, failing to do so, however, as he doesn’t remember the password. He then is asked a security question to give the name of his first love, to which he replies Hee Do, proving that Yi Jin was truly in love with Hee Do.

The drama had an ending that was bittersweet. Yes, it was sad, but it was a natural result considering the course of the events proceeding the separation. And it was overall known from the start, as the drama starts with Hee Do having a daughter who had no idea who Yi Jin was.

The story, in general, had a nostalgic mood, with feel-good, youthful vibes. The main character was brilliant, funny and a torrent that dominated the drama and aided in its success.
