Korean Drama A Love So Beautiful was light but boring
Story
Sol Yi is in love with the cold heartthrob of her class, Cha Heon and she openly confesses her love for him. And when the new student, Dae Sung, starts having feelings for her, Cha Heon realizes that he too loved her all along.
Korean Drama A Love So Beautiful is cute, fluff and light. The story is pretty simple, with few drama that complicates things up for a while, but the main plot is easy to follow and, at times, predictable.
The drama actually focuses mainly on the romance, with the main couple monopolizing the time in many episodes. The love story itself was sweet, with some pretty adorable moments, but those often were beyond cheesy.
The love triangle, too, was okay, with the second lead being the opposite of the main lead and showing strong chemistry with the female lead, even though it was pretty obvious from the start that he had no chance with her.
So, overall, the part where the characters were at school was pretty good, with some nostalgic vibes and many moments of friendship. However, the second part, when everyone has grown up, was boring. There were a few surprises and the whole drama that occurred was not handled well.
Still, the side characters were really entertaining and more often than not, supported the story a lot.
Characters
Sol Yi is a high school student who is bubbly and optimistic. She is not a great student but does her best to keep up. She has been in love with her neighbor and classmate, Cha Heon, for a long time.
So Ju Yeon was fresh and energetic, but she tended to overdo it and be annoying at times.

Cha Heon is the popular male student of his class. He appears to be cold and focused on his studies, but he is in reality a warm person who cares about his friends.
Kim Yeo Han did a good job for his first time acting.
Dae Sung is the new student at Sol Ji’s high school. He is an ace swimmer and he is working hard to be the best. He falls in love with Sol Ji at first sight and tries to make her notice him.
Yeo Hoe Hyun was a sweet second lead.
Cinematography
The drama has a very fast pace, and, at times, it’s too fast and makes things feel rushed. The final episode was a recap of everything that had happened in the previous ones.
Overall
My overall rating for the Korean Drama A Love So Beautiful is 4 out of 10. The drama is cute, but it’s unoriginal and not because it’s a remake.
Korean Drama A Love So Beautiful vs Chinese Drama A Love So Beautiful
The Korean Drama A Love So Beautiful followed the more Korean format and tried to focus more on the school years of the characters. The Chinese original version was, on the other hand, more melodramatic and mature, with a larger focus on family problems and the characters’ adult life. So, the Korean version is not a step by step adaption of the original, it just takes some plotlines and creates their own story.
