Japanese Drama #Remolove presented a fun love story taking place during the pandemic.
Story
Doctor Mimi works for a corporation and is in charge of making sure that everyone follows the new health rules. She can be strict and a mood killer sometimes, therefor she is avoided by the office workers. Mimi’s love life is also a reck, as she doesn’t have a loved one and the current situation doesn’t make it easy for her to find one. But, one day she starts exchanging messages online on a game forum with someone named ‘Lemon’. Mimi is falling in love with him, but she will soon discover that Lemon is working at her company.
Japanese drama #Remolove presented the story in a nice, neat structure. The romance starts smoothly and it develops at a relaxing pace, with few dramas, following the motif of an easter egg hunt as the main lead is trying to figure out who’s ‘Lemon’.
Though it must be noted that even though the love story had many cute and sweet moments, it lacked some intimacy, but the overall mood made up for it.
The side characters were also a cute addition to the main story, however, they were undeveloped and often left out when the drama focused on the couple. Also, the love triangle was pretty entertaining, and it didn’t lose its dynamic towards the final episodes.
Finally, the whole pandemic situation was described in a fun, uplifting way, if that could be even possible.
Characters
Mimi is a doctor who is obsessed with following the rules and she expects that everyone will do too, as the situation is quite serious. So she is annoyed by those who won’t cooperate. She also keeps comparing everyone around her to food, as she is looking for the ‘premium stake’.
Haru was excellent and she supported the whole drama with her charming attitude, being funny and cute with her reactions.
Daiki is doctor Mimi’s nurse. He has a cute character and he wants to help Mimi find love. He is also secretly dating his friend.
Takahashi Yuto was extra cute and narrated the whole story in an entertaining tone.
Fuitsi is working at the same office as Mimi. He is dating a cute coworker and the pandemic along with the rules that Mimi insists on following are all against him. His mindset annoys Mimi.
Matsushita Kouhei did a really good job with his performance and his dynamics with his partner were smooth and on point.
Cinematography
The drama used a cute and entertaining way to present the story, with the characters talking to the camera from time to time. The use of social media prompts was also a bonus.
Overall
My overall rating for the Japanese Drama #Remolove is 7 out of 10. The drama was a fun watch, with few setbacks.
