Where your eyes linger is a heartbreaking romance.
Story
Tae Joo is a wealthy young man who is self centered and likes to provoke people. Due to his best friend, Kang Gook, who is his bodyguard and is always there to get him out of any situation, he doesn’t care if he takes things too far. However, Kang Gook is his only friend, and when he starts getting attention from a girl, Tae Joo will realize that Kang Gook isn’t only a friend for him.
Where Your Eyes Linger was quite melodramatic. The inner dialogues gave a more dramatic feeling to the story, with the drama climaxing towards the end.
However, they still concluded the story nicely, wrapping up every storyline. The conclusion was realistic as well.
Now, for the main story, the pace was slow and had the element of intrigue and surprise, as well as the mystery of what is going to happen and what actually the characters feel. However, that pace was screwed towards the ending, as things were rushed to end too quickly.
The length didn’t help with many of the issues that the drama presented, like the relationship between son and father, son and mother, and Kang Gook’s background.
Nevertheless, the love story was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. It was more lighthearted and playful in the beginning, and it got tragic in the end. The side characters added some funny moments to it as well.
Characters
Tae Joo is a spoiled rich boy who doesn’t care to insult those around him and make them feel uncomfortable, as long as he is having fun. He thinks that his best friend, Kang Gook, will always be by his side, no matter what he does and how he treats him.
Han Gi Chan was pretty great and he had chemistry with his partner.
Kang Gook is Tae Joo’s bodyguard. The latter doesn’t hesitate to remind him that in any chance he gets, even though Kang Gook feels closer to him than that and his behavior confuses him and saddens him.
Jang Eui Soo was the perfect match for Han Gi Chan and he did amazing with his character.
Cinematography
The drama was a bit short for the story but they had a nice pace overall.
Overall
My overall rating for the Korean Drama Where Your Eyes Linger is 8 out of 10. The drama was very dramatic but it was too short.
