Story

Xing Yun (Lucky) works for demanding CEO Xia Ke, as his personal secretary. Xing Yun loves drawing and she loves working for a gaming company. However, her boss is making her life a living hell, as he is always asking her to do impossible tasks, even when she is off work. He gets especially annoying when Xing Yun starts dating Chu Nan, after going out on a blind date with him. Xing Yun has never been in love, but she is willing to try and find it. However, Xia Ke seems to have other plans. But he is not just an over-demanding boss that appears to be. He does care about Xing Yun, and, even though he acts childish, in the end, he wants to protect her.

The world owes me a first love was a nice guilty pleasure. The romance was cute and it took its sweet time to get developed. The numerous rivals that appeared were the main reason why there were some obstacles to the love story, but, overall, the drama was just enough to keep things interesting and don’t get overboard with the family issues. There were some comedy elements too, that were added and got the mood even lighter when things got heavy in the office. That business drama was cliché, but it was well presented. Finally, the love story had a happy ending and it was well concluded. So, overall, the drama provided a solid romance, with enough adorable, sweet scenes and kissing to make your heart flutter. However, it must be noted that the second lead, Xia Ke’s friend, got annoying towards the end, as he was too persistent, even though the girl kept telling him that she didn’t want to be his girlfriend. Lastly, the story of Xia Ke’s sister was a nice touch and the little boy was hands-down adorable.

Characters

Xing Yun is a talented artist that dreams of being one of the gaming designers in her company. However, for now, she has to deal with her unbearable boss. When it comes to her romantic life, Xing Yun doesn’t have any luck there either. She has never been in love and she is trying to find love by going on blind dates. Bai Lu was perfect as Xing Yun. She was not the classic and too often used a cute character who acts childish and needs the male lead to save her. On the contrary, she stood her own and was a perfect match for her partner, as she took care of him and she let him take care of her, without letting him get his way. However, a sad but noticeable note was her hair. They used an odd wig (for unknown reasons) which was awkward and couldn’t be fashioned in other hairstyles easily. It is not a deal-breaker, but it’s there.

Xia Ke is a young CEO who, even though he comes from a rich family, wants to stand on his own two feet and he creates his own gaming company. He is spoiled and likes to get what he wants, and thus, he often meddles with Xing Yun’s personal life, wanting her whole attention only on him. Xing Zhao Lin was an adorable male lead, and his comedy scenes were hilarious. He also had chemistry with Bei Lu.

He Yu is Xia Ke’s friend. He is a playboy who seems careless and playful. He likes flirting in order to get what he wants and he is selfish and too full of himself. Even though his character was tiring in the end, Zhai Zi Lu did a great job with his performance.

Yao Qing is Xia Ke’s sister. She had a dark past, when her husband left her, even though she was carrying his child. Now, she is a single mother, trying to survive while raising her child, and seeking for love. Anna Hollen was one of the surprises of the drama, so pretty and talented without overshadowing the leading lady.

Cinematography

The drama had a good pace, though, towards the ending, things got a bit confusing. Nevertheless, they kept things fresh, sweet and cute.

Overall

My overall rating is 8 out of 10. The drama was easy to watch and just perfect for what it was offering.
