Story

Yoo Jung is a famous actress who has trouble dating. After her current boyfriend and co star is proven to be using her, dating at the same time another rich woman, and leaving her for the later, Yoo Jung is left to deal with the media who are ready to devour her. To save face, she begs Woo Hyun, a man whom she by chance encounters in many awkward situations, to sign a contract with her. The contract actually dictates that the two will pretend to be dating, in order to convince the paparazzi that he was actually the infamous boyfriend. In the meantime, and while pretending, the two start developing feelings for each other. However, traumas of the past start resurfacing.

I have to warn you that I dropped this drama after episode twelve. It is rare for me to be so frustrated to the point that I just can’t keep watching, but this drama was simply unbearably boring after episode ten. The story was kind of interesting at first, although I still found it hard to be anticipating the next episode. And it’s not that this genre isn’t my cup of tea. It’s the mare fact that the story is completely cliché. There is zero surprises on what is going to happen next and the twists are simply predictable. Watching this drama is like deja vu: you have watched this plot way too many times, just better executed.

However, the drama got even more boring after episode ten. The plot was so spread over the length of the episodes that there was no point at keeping going. The only thing that maybe was worth watching was Sung Hoon, played by actor Joo Woo Jae, a living eye candy (see Best Chicken). This character was the unexpected second lead and he helped with the love triangle that spiced up the drama for a bit. Also, for Block B’s fans, there is P.O. (Yoo Joon) as well, though he doesn’t have enough screen time.

So, to sum up, the drama has a predictable story that gets boring after a while and has nothing interesting to it. The love story was just blunt as well, with no intensity and looked more like a business than an actual relationship.

Characters

Yoo Jung is a bubbly actress, with a positive personality. She has been hurt many times in the past, and her current boyfriend deceives her as well. However, she is still warm and trusting. Yoon Eun Hye, the star of Princess Hours aka Goong, could have chosen a better drama. Still, she is cute and adorable as always.

Woo Hyun is a dermatologist who is loved by many women. However, he doesn’t seem to respond to their affection. He is a gentle character and he takes pity in Yoo Jung, agreeing to pretend to be dating her. Chun Jung Myung did a good job as Woo Hyun, however, I couldn’t see him as the heartbreaker. Rather, he was a warm sweetheart.

Cinematography

The production of the drama was decent and they seemed to have done a good job with what it was given to them. However, they may have handled the pace better.

Overall

My overall rating for this drama is 3 out of 10. As I dropped it, I can’t rate it over 5, but the story was somehow decent at first, so one point for that and two for the performances.
