Japanese Manga live actions Pt.2

Part two of my best manga adaption series.

Title : Bleach

Genre : Action, Fantasy, Shounen

The movie Bleach, even though it seemed to be setting the base for more movies to come, was indeed a good movie. The characters, settings, and costumes were manga like, however, they didn’t overdo it and they looked decent and worthy of a nice sci-fi film. The story is about Ichigo, a boy who sees ghosts, who accidentally gets the power of a Soul Reaper, Rukia, and now he has to fight the evil spirits that threaten humanity in her place. I especially enjoyed Rukia’s and Ichiro’s dynamics in the film and the action scenes were splendid.

Chihayafuru: Kami no Ku

Title : Chihayafuru Series

Genre : School, Sports, Friendship

The Chihayafuru series of three movies and a mini-drama, was a treat. The sport itself wasn’t something everyone will know, with the cards and poems, but you’ll learn to love it, as it is kind of enjoyable. Chihaya, the main character of the series, is a girl who is obsessed with the game and she wants to preserve the school club that focuses on that sport. They go to various tournaments and they win or lose, but the friendships that were created, were the best, even though the romance was mild.

Title : Daytime Shooting Star

Genre : Romance, School, age gap

A sweet shoujo movie, about a girl who moves from the countryside to Tokyo. She falls for her homeroom teacher, but, at the same time, her classmate also confesses to her. In this one, there were many twists and it was as cute and silly as it should. With a light mood and a nice ending, Daytime Shooting Star is a really good movie for those who enjoy rom coms.

From Me to You

Title : From me to You

Genre : School, Friendship, Romance

Continuing with the school shoujo ones, From me to You is one of the classic shoujo manga and its live-action wasn’t bad. It focused more on the girl and how she felt and acted, as well as the friendships that she formed, rather than the romance itself, though, that one was nice too. The story is about a girl who is mocked for looking like the character from the horror movie Ring. She is socially isolated and lonely until the popular boy of her school falls for her.

Title : Heroine Disqualified

Genre : Comedy, Romance, School

One of my favorite manga adaptions, as two of my favorite actors, Kento Yamazaki and Kiritani Mirei, were the leads. It was funny as well, with the manga references all over the plot, even though the manga wasn’t that over the top. The ending was cute as well. The plot is focusing on Hatori, a girl who was the heroine of her own shoujo manga/life, in love with her best friend, who was bound to fall for her as well. Until he starts dating another girl. Hatori feels that she has been disqualified from being the heroine and she tries to get her position back.

I'm Underage But I'm Not A Child

Title : I’m Underaged but not a child

Genre : comedy, Romance, School, Rich Family

Even though the leading lady at first was annoying and some scenes are over the top and too fake and could make you cringe, the overall result is cute and the love story and character development really good, Plus, Karin, is a fashion icon, after Hatori from the movie above. Karin is told that she has to get married to the most handsome guy in her school when she turns sixteen. However, the marriage isn’t as rosy as she imagined. Karin, the rich spoiled princess, has now to live with her husband in a budget, in an extremely small house. She also has to keep their marriage a secret.

Title : L DK

Genre : Romance, roommates, School

Aoi has to live on her own while going to school. She rents a room at a shared house, and the boy living next to is the most popular boy of her school, however, he is a real tyrant. And even worse, Aoi sets his room on fire accidentally and she has to take him in her own room until the room is repaired. The movie, for me, was a bit better than the manga. It was cute and had enough cliché to keep it going. The plot wasn’t tiring and it was a nice and enjoyable rom-com.
