Japanese Drama Himawari: Kenichi Legend is a short family comedy

Story
Akiko has been hired by the same company where her father works. And due to that, her father is engrossed in Akiko’s work life, making her feel uncomfortable with his odd character. His attitude will prove even more embarrassing when Akiko will meet a guy at work with the same name as him.
Japanese Drama Himawari: Kenichi Legend is a short, cute drama. The story centres around Akiko and her father, while mostly taking place at the office where they both work.
Each episode has a different ‘adventure’ of the main lead, as she tries to get along with her new coworkers and avoid her father. The latter was an annoying character as to be comical and, fortunately, didn’t get overbearing.
As for the romance, it was subtle and it didn’t take the focus off the main couple, which was the father and daughter duo. The other characters were there to assist the comedy element and they didn’t have much screen time for their own.
Finally, the addition of the details about the certain area was a nice touch and they were presented in a cute way.
Overall, the drama has a light story that wasn’t that deep and didn’t explore the characters’ relationships much, but it did a good job at the entertainment level.

Characters
Akiko has always lived by her father’s demands. She even agreed to work at the same company as him, even though she loves art. Due to his extreme character, Akiko often feels uncomfortable around him.
Taira Yuna was effortlessly adorable.
Kenichi #1 is Akiko’s father. He is a strong willed man who has some odd ideas about how Akiko should live her life. He also has a big love for tropical fruits.
Takahashi Katsunori did a good job with his comical character.
Kenichi #2 is Akiko’s love interest. He works at the same office as her and he is in charge of taking care of the plants. He knows a lot of things about nature and plants and he seems like a quiet and closed up character.
Inoue Yuki had a subtle character who was overshadowed by the main ones, but he gave a smooth performance.

The drama had a good pace and it handled the comedy well. The music of the drama suited the story as well.
